Ozark Sufi Camp is run entirely by camper volunteers, and every camper is asked to contribute their service.
Loving Service
Campers contribute their service by signing up for Loving Service shifts. Ozark Camp is trying out a new payment tier system this fall. The system is based on Loving Service or work scholarship commitment. Ozark Camp relies on loving service work to keep camp running smoothly. We deeply thank our campers for their dedication and service to camp!
Staff Work Scholarships
The staff who work hard every day to serve the basic needs of our camp community are supported, in turn, by camp scholarships. Serving on the camp staff is a great way to get to know other campers and become part of the community. Contact Sydney Buszta at sydneybuszta@gmail.com for work scholarship opportunities.
For all music scholarships, please contact Hakam Dan Lietchy at dliecht@ilstu.edu.
Full and half service scholarships are available for campers age 14 and older.
Most scholarship opportunities involve helping with food preparation and clean-up in the kitchen. Kitchen staffers generally work the same shift every day, coordinating the work of the loving service volunteers at tasks such as cooking meals, kitchen clean-up, and preparing beverages.
Scholarship recipients are expected to arrive Thursday, October 9, the day before camp opens. We also expect scholarship recipients to stay until we break down camp by noon on Tuesday. Please let us know if you are not able to arrive on Thursday, October 9 or stay until the end of camp on Tuesday, October 14.
Half Scholarships generally involve one shift a day for a couple of hours. There are a wide variety of times so that you can still attend the camp activities that you most enjoy.
Full Scholarships are offered to those whose camp duties extend throughout camp, and often far beyond. We honor the contributions of our senior teachers, staff leaders, and management team by supporting them in this way. Note that we are asking full scholarship recipients to pay $30 toward food expenses and liability insurance at the time of registration.
Campers with Kids Scholarships
Our community also supports families who bring children under age 13 with scholarships.
- Families with children under 5: One parent/guardian per child can attend camp at one half of the normal registration fee, and they will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their child under 5 at all times. We request that parents who receive this discount help out at Kids Camp when necessary. It takes a village!
- Parents or guardians of children age 5 or older can apply for a half scholarship to either:
- serve on staff at Kids Camp (limited number of Kids Camp staff scholarships available), or
- serve on staff elsewhere in the camp.
- Contact Sydney Buszta at sydneybuszta@gmail.com to inquire about scholarships for campers with kids.
